The Barents Map
General information
- The Barents Region covers a vast area on the top of Europe. It extends over the counties of Nordland, Troms and Finnmark in Norway, Västerbotten and Norrbotten in Sweden, Kainuu, Northern Ostrobothnia and Lapland in Finland, Murmansk oblast, Arkhangelsk oblast, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Komi in Russia.
- The national cadastre and mapping organisations and the regional cadastral offices of northwestern Russia have co-operated to produce a homogenous geographic database covering the whole region. From the database a number of derived products have been created.
- The co-operation has been an integrated part of both the Barents Programme and the Interreg III A Nord Programme, Kolarctic.
- The geographic and thematic information on the Barents Region can be viewed at www.gitbarents.com which contains our interactive map.
The Barents Map
- covers the entire Barents Region and consists of a map series of ten sheets at the scales of 1:1 000 000 and one sheet at the scale of 1:3 000 000.
- is also available free of charge at the scale of 1:12 000 000 as a digital raster image.
- can be delivered as wall maps mounted on plastic board or as folded/unfolded map sheets.
- at the scale of 1:1 000 000 consists of ten separate two-sided map sheets, each with a total map area of 550 by 950 mm and a total sheet size of 700 by 475
The Barents Map on CD
- consists of several CDs, each containing the information for one country or one Russian region.
- contains raster or vector data.
